The recording was good, the balance of sound, the relationship between the voices and orchestra was very good - voices clearly audible above the music. Principles were also very good. Maybe the Las Vegas theme could have been explained even more fully? Overall an interesting new insight into this well-known opera.
Parfaitement "énlevé". Que ce soit Gilda comme son père ou les autres partenaires. Mise en scène que je trouve sobre, mais suffisante, tout est dans le jeu des acteurs ! !
The choice of Las Vegas was a "stroke of genius". The car trunk (boot) was a great improvement over Gilda in a sack at the finale. All of the leads had wonderful voices and the Duke was a perfect Vegas entertainer. Loved the whole thing!!!
Production admirable de tous les points de vue. Toutes les voix comme la mise en scène, les costumes, la façon d'actualiser l'histoire... Orchestre magnifique et chef d'orchestre remarquable.
Flashy decor, constantly moving lights behind the static singers helped make this a good fun production. To my mind, Rigoletto was outstanding - Gilda had a wonderful strong voice, although she was not as attractive as described (like an Angel). The Count also had a very good voice - the music absolutely sublime.
Les voix était excellentes. Tous les chanteurs principaux très équilibrés et chacun excellent. J'ai beaucoup aimé la mise en scène Las Vegas qui s'accordait bien avec le sous-entendre de la corruption, la violence et l'argent comme moteur de presque tout.
I felt the Rigoletto in this production was an excellent singer but did not elicit all the sympathy that I would like to have felt. Gilda had an excellent voice, a real thrill to hear her hit the high notes. Original staging, perhaps did not work as well with an historic peace so very much reflecting its time.
Cet opéra m'a enchanté (surtout acte II et acte III). Je ne saurais dire qu'elle voix m'as la plus envoûtée : Gilda, Duc, bouffon ? ? ! Trop court ! !
I prefer to see traditional costumes and stage sets. However, this was very well done and believable. The female lead Gilda had a fabulous voice, but could have been more svelte and youthful looking. Verdi's music was as always wonderful, and I enjoyed the evening.
J'ai vu la retransmission du Met dans une très "grande salle" sur une immense "grand écran". Pour moi c'était trop grand. Ici avec l'écran à taille humaine, intime presque, le spectacle est somptueux : belle voix, fabuleuse interprétation de l'orchestre. La présentation à Las Vegas m'a fait indifférente, je reprends les chanteurs, je les écoute…
In my view, the stage was not used to best advantage. There were too many people on stage with not enough to do. Main female character had a dull and unattractive in appearance, despite being a very good singer.
Le temps de s'habituer à cette mise en scène, ce lieu pas habituel, on entre vite dans le spectacle et on adore !
Really enjoyed it, especially the Las Vegas setting, costumes, etc. Excellent performances from the main singers.
Excellent interprètes. Mise en scène spectaculaire. Bien que je ne sois pas fan des mises en scène "contemporaine", je trouve que le décor de Las Vegas redonne une grande fraîcheur à l'histoire de Rigoletto.

Director Michael Mayer has placed his new production of Verdi's towering tragedy in Las Vegas in 1960-an ideal setting for this eternal conflict of depravity and innocence.
In this production, inspired by the antics of the Rat Pack, Piotr Beczala is the womanizing Duke of Mantua, with Željko Lucic as his tragic sidekick, Rigoletto. Diana Damrau is Rigoletto’s daughter-and their victim. Michele Mariotti conducts.
